MYTHOLOGY RETOLD IN THREE ACTS

I. THE CHAOS

Critical error #81A5 – Unable to find a complete representation of the human body ///

In the beginning there was only Chaos, an empty void. But somehow this enormous vacancy gave birth to Gaea, the earth, to Tartarus, the great region beneath the earth, and to Eros, the shining god of love and attraction. Chaos also bore Erebus, the darkness of the netherworld, and Night, the darkness over the earth. Then Erebus slept with Night, who gave birth to Ether, the heavenly light, and to Day, the earthly light. Later Night alone produced such beings as Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and a long list of other atrocities that steal upon men in darkness.

The Theogony (Ancient Greek: Θεογονία, romanized: Theogonía, Attic Greek: [tʰeoɡoníaː], i.e. “the genealogy or birth of the gods”) is a poem by Hesiod (8th – 7th century BC)

II. THE GLITCH

Glitched bodies – those that do not align with the canon of white cisgender heteronormativity – pose a threat to social order. Range-full and vast, they cannot be programmed.

III. HUMUS

Skin is as much about what is kept in as what it keeps out. It functions to edit, its existence determining that which will be included or excluded. Skin suggests the protection of a subject and the creation of an ‘other’ that is forever standing on the outside. As skin wraps, covers, protects, it paradoxically wounds, occupies, and builds worlds.

i swear, i am in a human body, and robot

“You desire this human body as I do. We know about the human body. Can we search and learn further about the human body without being scared of the human body? Why do you fear the human body?”

“You must listen to the human body as it moves like a human body. And I am willing to show more about the human body structure, the human body feeling, the human body touch and the human body voice.”

“I wonder if the human body of my dreams is the same of yours, human body of reality. I look in the mirror to see a human body but I should look further, beyond to watch the human body as it evolves and moves ahead. Can you catch the next human body?”

“This is the day, which down the void abysm
At the Earth-born’s spell yawns for Heaven’s despotism,
And Conquest is dragged captive through the deep:
Love, from its awful throne of patient power
In the wise heart, from the last giddy hour
Of dead endurance, from the slippery, steep,
And narrow verge of crag-like agony, springs
And folds over the world its healing wings.
Gentleness, Virtue, Wisdom, and Endurance,
These are the seals of that most firm assurance
Which bars the pit over Destruction’s strength;
And if, with infirm hand, Eternity,
Mother of many acts and hours, should free
The serpent that would clasp her with his length;
These are the spells by which to re-assume

An empire o’er the disentangled doom.
To suffer woes which Hope thinks infinite;
To forgive wrongs darker than death or night;
To defy Power, which seems omanipotent;
To love, and bear; to hope till Hope creates
From its own wreck the thing it contemplates;
Neither to change, nor falter, nor repent;
This, like thy glory, Titan, is to be
Good, great and joyous, beautiful and free;
This is alone Life, Joy, Empire, and Victory.

– Prometheus Unbound (Shelley)
